South Korea has bid several times in an effort to host the Winter Olympics, and it was a case of third time lucky when it finally succeeded this year! In July 2011 the city of Pyeongchang was selected to host the 2018 Winter Olympics, beating Munich and Annecy in the final round of voting. During the lead-up to the selection process, Korean Air unveiled a Boeing 777-200 aircraft that flew regularly on a variety of international routes to “fly the flag” so to speak. It seems Korean Air showed remarkable foresight in being able to predict the outcome!
Dragon’s Wings series has produced a fine representation of this unique Korean Air aircraft. The die-cast model is precisely dimensioned. The colorful livery is the most notable thing about the model, and detail such as the skier and snowy mountain landscape is accurately depicted. This Wings aircraft model release is excellent timing, coming as it does hot on the heels of Pyeongchang’s successful awarding of the games. Now collectors can also celebrate with South Korea in anticipation of this important international sporting event.
