Are you a die cast, die-cast, diecast model collector, of model cars, trucks or aircraft? The Diecast Magazine is your one-stop model collector reference.
Issue 27 of The Diecast Magazine features Biante’s Die cast model release of the 1987 WTCC Monza-winning Holden VL Commodore SS Group A driven by Allan Moffat and John Harvey. This 1/18 scale die cast model race car reflects on a time when many Aussie drivers were proving their skills abroad amongst international competition.
Bathurst collectors will recall the excitement of the 1981 Bathurst race while reading the model car review of the Classic Carlectables 1/18 scale HDT #05 Holden VC Commodore driven by Peter Brock. For those with even longer memories, the 1/18 scale Classic Carlectables 1972 Bathurst #12D Ford XY Falcon GT-HO driven by John Goss will also trigger a wave of nostalgia.
If you have the resources, you cannot go past the detail and quality built into the Die cast model masterpiece of the Bauer 1/12 scale Mercedes-Benz 500K Special Roadster reviewed in Issue 27 of The Diecast Magazine. Unfortunately for many of us, we will have to be satisfied with this article as the approximate $2500 AUD price tag may limit any chance to own this die cast model.
Issue 27 harnesses the horsepower with a sneak peek from Maisto of their upcoming release of the die-cast metal 2014 Corvette Stingray in 1/18 scale. Then there is the Minichamps 1/18 scale Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG also produced in die-cast metal. But the real surprise is the insight within the review of the first production sample of the 1959 World Champion #8 Cooper-Climax T51 driven by Jack Brabham. Produced by Schuco, this model race car has been shrouded in controversy, but will no doubt be a welcome addition to the collections of many Australian collectors.
For collectors of smaller scales, variety abounds. Apart from the Brooklin Models article about the 1/43 scale 1934 Miller-Buick Art Model Funeral Coach, or the Automodello 1/43 scale Sunbeam Tigers, the highlight will definitely be the Hollywood Highlights article about the Hot Wheels Elite 1/43 scale replicas of the DeLorean ‘Time Machine’ from Back to the Future (1985), Batmobile from Batman (1989) and the Ecto 1A Cadillac ambulance from Ghostbusters II (1989)
If you like your models heavy and ready to lift a large load, the story about TWH Collectibles’ CAT 7495 Rope Shovel in 1:50 scale will fill your bucket. But if creating your own ‘One-of-a-kind’ is your kinda thing, the article titled ‘When the War is Over’ is sure to ‘float your boat’ as it takes you through the steps of safely removing pad-printed details on a diecast model car.
Issue 27 also features a brand new section titled ‘Diecast Diary’. To christen this section with a blast of international flavour, Glen Chou, President of TrueScale Miniatures, shares highlights of a visit he recently paid to Classic Team Lotus based in the UK. Maintaining the international feel, there is the Retromobile report by Douglas R. Kelly, giving insights into a world-renowned event that all of us would love to add to our respective ‘bucket lists’.
Die cast delights continue in Issue 27 of The Diecast Magazine, which is packed with news and new-release die cast model information from a variety of model manufacturers around the world in our Shop Talk section. What’s Hot Online has extensive listings of notable diecast model cars traded via online auction websites, while collectors have their say in the Readers’ Page and share their collections with us in Collectors’ Post. Of course, it’s all in the only magazine with the diecast X-factor: The Diecast Magazine.
